Moritaka Mashiro
Mashiro is the main character of Bakuman.
At the beginning, he’s quite reserved, quiet, and somewhat lost about what he wants to do with his life.
He has a natural talent for drawing, inherited from his uncle, who was a mangaka.
But despite this, he lacks motivation… and is even afraid to follow that path.
Everything changes when he meets Akito Takagi.
Mashiro becomes the artist of their duo.
He works extremely hard to improve, meet deadlines, and achieve his dream.
What makes him truly interesting is his growth.
He evolves from someone passive…
into someone determined, ready to do whatever it takes to succeed.
His goal is clear:
to become a professional mangaka and see his work adapted into an anime.
But behind that ambition, there’s also a personal motivation:
to keep his promise to Azuki.
🧠 Akito Takagi
Takagi is the complete opposite of Mashiro.
He is outgoing, intelligent, and highly ambitious.
He’s the one who pushes Mashiro to start their journey in manga.
Unlike Mashiro, Takagi is not afraid of failure.
He’s willing to take risks and try anything to succeed.
He is the writer of the duo.
He creates the stories, builds the plots, and develops the concepts.
His biggest strength is his ability to analyze what works (and what doesn’t) in a manga.
But Takagi isn’t just “the brain.”
He’s also loyal and deeply believes in their partnership.
He brings energy, vision, and constant motivation.
🤝 Their Duo
What makes Bakuman so powerful
is the complementarity between Mashiro and Takagi.
One draws, the other writes.
One doubts sometimes, the other always pushes forward.
They’re not perfect,
but they move forward together.
And it’s precisely this relationship
that makes their journey feel so realistic and inspiring.
✒️ MY OPINION
Mashiro and Takagi perfectly represent what it means to chase a dream.
It’s not just about talent…
but also hard work, sacrifices, and real determination.
